2026 Year-End Family Trips: When Do Singapore and Johor School Breaks Overlap?
Singapore and Johor's 2026 year-end school breaks do not begin together. Match the right calendars, find the overlap and compare real trip dates without inventing a holiday premium.

For the calendars compared here, Singapore MOE primary/secondary year-end holidays run from 21 November to 31 December 2026; Johor's KPM Group B year-end break runs from 5 to 31 December. Their published overlap is therefore 5–31 December, not the whole of Singapore's November break. Individual school commitments and family availability still need checking.
This comparison is for Singapore MOE primary/secondary and the Malaysian government/government-aided schools covered by KPM's Group B calendar. It is not a calendar for every international school, preschool, JC or college, and it does not grant permission to miss school. Dates and first-party fare scope were checked on 30 October 2026.
The main picture is a licensed historical desk photograph for planning information, not an official school calendar or customer booking. Home/index cards are existing labelled AI planning illustrations. They do not show a real family's documents, an available holiday package or confirmed vehicle.
Choose the right calendar before choosing the trip
Ask each household which school calendar actually applies. Singapore MOE's current calendar labels the relevant break MK, Primary & Secondary; do not substitute a post-secondary entry just because it also says year-end. For Johor, read KPM's calendar titled 2026 and its Group B list. KPM's portal separately lists the older 2025/2026 calendar, so a saved screenshot from that school cycle is not the same source. A familiar state name without the academic year is not enough to settle a travel date.
Separate the two windows instead of saying 'the school holidays'
For these two published year-end breaks, 21 November–4 December is inside the Singapore primary/secondary window but before the Group B year-end break. From 5 December, the two published windows overlap through 31 December. This is a calendar intersection, not evidence that every Johor child attends school on every earlier date or that every Singapore child is free of commitments. Weekends, school-specific arrangements and the actual children's obligations remain separate checks.
Decide whose availability the outing depends on
As an editorial example, imagine a Singapore household planning a visit with school-age cousins in Johor. If seeing the cousins together is essential, confirm both households' actual available days before choosing the attraction or hotel. If only the Singapore household is travelling, its own suitable dates may be the starting point instead. Neither choice is automatically better. The useful difference is whether the plan depends on everyone being free, not whether one date looks attractive on a generic holiday poster.
Compare two real date options with the same journey
Once the family has two genuinely possible options, label them A and B. Keep the pickup, destination, vehicle request and included road legs consistent, then state the exact outbound and return dates for each. Ask what availability and confirmed total apply to each option. If the route or group also changes, name that difference rather than attributing every change to the holiday calendar. An answer for option A does not reserve option B, and an undecided return date should stay visibly undecided.
A school calendar is not a surcharge table
Our first-party price guide states no late-night or public-holiday surcharge for its confirmed LEGOLAND, Johor Bahru-to-Singapore and Singapore–Kuala Lumpur route examples; vehicle availability still needs confirmation. Do not invent an extra charge from a school-holiday label, or extend those route-specific terms to every service. Other declared locations, waiting or changed scope follow the applicable confirmed arrangement. The overlap dates do not measure border queues, prove a cheaper period or guarantee an arrival time.
Keep school, venue and transport confirmations separate
Recheck the children's obligations, the venue's date or session and the current transport confirmation before committing. Do not treat a school break as proof that a restaurant, attraction or relative will be available. Keep the school-calendar source with your planning notes, but send the transport provider only the dates and journey details it needs, not school accounts or private student records. If the trip runs into January 2027, check the relevant new-year calendar rather than extending this 2026 comparison beyond its end date.
